Movie Taglines
Paranormal activity – “I feel it, I feel it breathing on me”
MAMA – “Mama stop it! You promised.”
Insidious – “It's not the house that's haunted. It's your son”
Alien - “In space no one can hear you scream”
Dawn Of The Dead – “When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth”
Noticeable trends:
Movie tag lines are meant to be ambiguous, this is because they are aimed to chill the audience and let the imagination flare. They don’t want to give much away about the film, but just enough so the audience has a clue about the plot of the film – a tagline has the power to define genre. Taglines can be quotes from film – Films are remembered by their taglines, this is why they are so important.
When creating my movie tagline, I wanted it to relate to the title and be reflect the tone of the trailer. Here are a few examples taglines I created;
“Nothing is worse… than being burnt by something you didn’t think hurt”
“He doesn’t miss anything”
“Chop - Chop - Chop - Chop - Caught”
“His fantasy is your unimaginable nightmare”
“Don’t get caught…In the rope”
This is the tagline I chose for my poster, trailer and magazine, I think people will think twice about it. It is ambiguous but also short and audiences will remember it. People being tied up and not having control of themselves is something I know scares a lot of individuals.
