Contents Research

I like the main image on this contents – its funny and interesting. The quote in the bottom corner is nice input put a bit of personality into the contents. I also like the white, red and black theme – connote rock and metal. i like how the contents doesn't have a mast head. Its unique, but i don't think the image quality is great. The main text of the contents is the feature part because its highlighting all the articles that will be shown in the magazine. There is also additional information underneath the subheading to drip feed the reader. Even the main image fits with the colour scene - his tie matches the colours used. The layout is unique, it looks like a page is being turned at the top left corner. Each small detail like this makes the magazine look more interesting and complex. I think i will emulate this style for my contents

The split page effect, works well with the rugged rock theme. The layered photos make is look informal, I don’t like the amount of text used – people get annoyed with content of a content page. I like the ripped page effect on this contents, also the contrast of colours and the way all the pictures are linked to one band – although this restricts the reader to one genre of band . I think the font size is too small but there is lots of information to digest. They’ve got a featured KERRANG magazine in the top left which is a nice touch to the magazine. The small bit of blogged writing in the centre gives the reader a little taster of what going on in the magazine. i like how the plain white background contrasts with the picture backgrounds it makes the images stand out more. the splattered numbers link with the text on the left. The cute little recycling icon on the bottom left represent a wholesome effect to the magazine. Over all i think its an edgy contents.

Again the split page has been used separates images from text The content is clear and easy to read which works well because it is easy to seek information. Pictures relate to page number which i think is interesting - the image corners are jaggeres which links to the red stars in the right hand corner, i think this little detail improves the whole rocked rugged theme. San Serif shows it’s modernised and sticking to the house style as the rest of the contents page is also in red white and black. The splattered '70' and 'contents' links with the front cover of this contents - a continuous theme can lead to a continuous reader.
